INTRODUCTION
Sarva Siksha Abhiyan means “ Education for all compaign”. SSA is an Indian Government programme basically aimed at the universalization of elementary education in time bound manner. This programme was introduced in line with 86th amendment to the Constitution of India providing free as well as compulsory education to children between ages of 6 to 14 .The programme was inaugurated not to mention by thethen prime minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Bajpai in 2001-2002.The government of India launched Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) basically to ensure that the underprivileged kids are no more left behind.
HISTORY
The launch of SSA goes deep down to 1993-94 when the District Primary Education Program(DPEP) was launched specifically with the aim of achieving the objective of Universal Primary education over several phases. DPEP covered 272 districts as a whole in 18 states of the country. In an assessment to judge the success of DPEP it was found that overall impact on minority children was commendable but it could not improve the education of girl child. Even though DPEP was not waste and showed a path for launching SSA.
FEATURES OF SARVA SIKSHA ABHIYAAN
1.It provides basic education to all minor girls as well as boys of all religions throughout the India for free.
2. This programme was basically launched to implement Universal Elementary education within a time frame.
3 By making basic education available to all minor children for free , this program helps India achieve a benchmark of not only equality but also social justice.
4.The central Government in Partnership with state Govt as well as Local governments implements this program.
5.It includes the village education committee, school management committees, Panchayat raj Institutions, Tribal autonomous councils and Parent teacher association and hence they all are effectively managing the primary schools.
OBJECTIVES OF SSA:-
Following are the main goals of SSA program:-
1.To arrange for alternative schooling facilities.
2.Renovate the existing schools infrastructure from time to time by setting up toilets, classrooms and making drinking water available .
3.To increase the number of teachers in school , as well as strengthen the faculty strength.
4.To provide Not only uniforms, textbooks but also quality primary education.
5.To give quality elementary education and life skills to the students simultaneously.
6. To promote digital education and enhance teaching skills by providing vocational courses.
7.To promote girls’ education to bring a change in the status of women significantly.
8.To Ensure education for physically disabled as well as socially backward children.
9.To manage school improvement grants and maintenance grants.
Who are eligible for Sarva Siksha Abhiyan:-
Boys and girls aged between 6 to 14 years are eligible to avail education under Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan.
AIM OF SARVA SIKSHA ABHIYAAN:-
Sarva Siksha abhiyaan initiated a sub program known as Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat, focussing on the children of class 1 and class2.This program offers comprehensive practice of early reading, writing and calculations.
This program aims to provide education to those students who failed to avail education at an early age .It encourages language development via exciting exercises and generates interest in mathematics through real life examples.
BENEFITS OF SARVA SIKSHA ABHIYAAN:-

6.Grants for maintenance cost of the school.Improved infrastructure with additional classroom , renovated and hygienic toilets and drinking water supply.
7. Appraisal system to suport the teachers.
Conclusion
The Sarva Siksha abhiyaan (SSA) is an UnifiedElementary Education initiative. This initiative aims to give a chance for all students to improve their human potential by providing community-owned quality education in a predefined sequence.This program will definetly increase the litrecy rate of all the states and areas in India and eventually help in growth of country. By providing elementary education to younger ones Government has encouraged all people to utilise this wonderful oppurtunity and make their lives better in all manners.
